White Fly

White fly is a major insect of urdbean and it acts as a vector of yellow mosaic virus disease also. It feeds on the juices of plant cells. This lowers down the growth of plant and leaves bent downwards. Whitefly develops a layer of black fungus on the leaves, which decrease the rate of photosynthesis.

Insect Management

Weeds are the optional nutrition for these flies, so weeds should be removed from the field, water ways / drains and surroundings, first.

• It is the best option to use insect resistant urdben Varieties.
• Part U.19, U.G. 218, Uttara, pant U.30, K.U.300 and B.U.108 varieties may be grown.
• Spray of dimethoate 30 – e.c. – 1.7 ml  /  litre can lower down the loss by this insect.
